Raffia is a natural fibre extracted from the raffia (raphia) palm tree, which grows in tropical regions .  The raffia tree has long leaves that can grow to 60ft and these can be sun dried so they turn beige the natural colour raffia as we know – the raffia fibres are soft and pliable and lends itself as an excellent craft material.
